Battery Saving Techniques
I am ordering my DI in about a week and from what I have read so far, there are a lot of issues with battery life. What I've gathered up to this point is that there are some things you can do, for free, that will save battery life. I just want to get a list of things going that will help users who are moderate users, like I plan to be.
- Battery Left App (to monitor battery %)
- Lower Brightness
- Darker Backgrounds
- UnLive Backgrounds
- Turning off WiFi/Bluetooth/GPS
- Turning off "Always on Data"
- Extend Refresh Rates
- Airplane Mode With Poor Reception
- Typing Vibration Off
- Screebl (Worth a shot)
- Better/Spare Battery
If I forgot anything useful, please post and I will add it to the list, maybe this can even be made a sticky eventually.

Airplane mode is only really important if you don't have a signal (Helps with Cell Standby usage).
I average about 13 hours (5-6 hours in standby) of Battery life a day with Moderate use. Alot of web browsing.
Things I changed:
1. Switching off "Always on Data" (puts more power into certain apps)***
2. Lowered brightness to about the 20% mark.
3. No WiFi or GPS (unless I'm using it)
4. Switched the Vibration off for typing.
Task killer isn't really that important. Droid can take care of its self. (This is more for peace of mind)
Battery indicators use up battery... (The most Ironic app on the market place)

At first I was going with the smarty response and was going to say take it out and put it someplace nobody can mess with it....
An option not listed here is to spend 40 bucks or so and get the extended life battery. If the goal is to make it through the day, that would help.
Screebl, in the market, is worth at least trying. Mixed reviews. Phone not in an in-use position? Off it goes.
I also use the Power Control Widget so I can easily switch things on and off. If you are going to be toggling brightness, bluetooth, gps, etc on and off all day but its a pain to get to you just plain won't be turning it off.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

Only poorly coded ones.

I purchased a 1750 mAh SEIDIO and have gotten 24+ hours out of a charge - everything on update 5 minutes and nothing turned off to "save" battery
-
My 1750 mAh SEIDIO is giving me 36+hrs but no social networking, wifi only at home and GPS when away from home. Phone works great for me.
Did some of the battery saving items. Plus I keep the OEM battery in my wallet in case I run out and not home.

I am short on cash at the moment, which is why I have to wait to get the phone, so I will try some of the free options first.
