OK something has changed in the bluetooth controls

I've been using my Rocketfish Bluetooth headset for ayear now with little problems. All of a sudden the behavior has been very unpredictable.

1) Sometimes the music controls are disabled (play, next song, pause don't work), but the sound for phone and media will go through...

2) Sometimes phone calls stop coming through (it is supposed to interrupt the music) so I miss calls.

3) Sometimes the phone audio will not go to the bluetooth headset, but the music will.

The only way I've found to fix this problem is to reboot my phone when it happens (which is ridiculous!).

I've updated some apps, but none that tie in with Bluetooth controls except for Google Maps.

Anyone else having this trouble and (hopefully) found a solution?
