CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

This version is a beta, but you will find it stable for everyday use.

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Running nightly build #7 currently
CyanogenMod Mirror Network - Powered by TDRevolution

But currently seeing some ridiculous battery usage on Cell Standby.

I have also noticed that my cell standby is a little high, but it says I haven't spent any time without a signal so i'm not sure why it is that high. I'm still getting great battery life (that could also be that I flashed the JDkernal) easily going about 18hrs @20% remaining.

This is saying that 40+% is going to just cell standby, I've seen this to usually be <15% so no, you would want this to be much lower IMO.
