Any way to root 2.3.4?
My girlfriend has a Dinc2 and wants to root it, she's running GB 2.3.4 and I told her id gather infortmation and help her with it since I'm pretty big into rooting, romming, and tweaking. I've been digging around and only have found a temporary root. Has a permanent exploit been found yet?

Pete's Droid one click will root it on dx2 so I don't see why it wouldn't work for an Inc

It won't work like the dx2. Here is the link to a thread right below yours. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...explained.html
Please search next time.
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...html?highlight= Go to this post and follow the instructions. It will downgrade your phone to 2.3.3 and allow you to root using the unrevoked method.

My goal is to have the stock 2.3.4 rom (the radio update was huge), with all of the bloat removed, and the ability to take screenshots.
You have to downgrade first, then install a ROM that has 2.3.4 baked in. There are no other options at this point.
and it's pretty painless. I just did it.
I don't see much point in rooting if all you want is screenshots. Take your digital camera and snap pictures. lol
Now if you want no bloat you should root and then ROM.
I can't begin to tell you how much nicer these phones are on 2.3.5 and the newer Sense 3.0 or 3.5.
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have found plenty of info about rooting on windows but I have not found any responses that relate to trying to root a verizon htc incredible w/2.3.4 on a mac.I have (3) Mac's so I'm hoping i can do it on one of them. One is a Imac running 10.4.11, one is a white MacBook running 10.5 and one is a MacBook Pro running 10.7. About a year ago i was able to use UnRevoked on my old phone but it doesn't seem to work now.

Sounds like your best bet would be to download a linux live cd and use that to follow these guides at xda.

You could unlock your bootloader using HTC's dev tool, install clockwork recovery, and install the root zip that way.
