Google news widget works on droid

Just put the new google news widget on my DROID courtesy of XDA. Its a pretty app/widget and works without a hitch on my DROID. Genie Widget from Nexus One Dump - xda-developers You must register to download. (sorry if this is a repost)


To use: download this file and change the file extension from .zip to .apk using astro (or windows, Mac, Ubuntu....) Place file on sd and execute with astro.

Thanks! Some folks at the forum you linked to are saying the app won't use the GPS to gather weather information. If anyone here installs this, please let us know if it works for you. I am at work right now or I would try it myself.

Good find. I installed it and it instantly showed my current location's weather. I didn't notice the GPS icon so I'm not sure if it used GPS or if it used cell towers, but nonetheless it works fine!

Looks okay. May install this if a future update breaks Beautiful Widgets, but sticking with that for now.

No...change the extension of the file from zip to apk...put it on your sdcard...browse to it with a file manager on the droid like ASTRO...click it and install. You do need to have the option in settings turned on to allow non-market apps.

nice, just threw it on my website, browsed there via the browser and installed it...works great! lets get some more of these 2.0 apps installed!!! animated wallpapers!!!

I just got rid of beautiful widgets ...the weather widget on this is great and minimal!

The best feature of this app/widget is ability to customize news. I have mine set up to give me android/DROID news. Pretty slick if you ask me.
