help me pick/install a kernel

I had 2.1 rooted and otherwise pretty much stock. I used an update posted here supposedly being stock 2.2, rooted w/ wireless tether. All is well and good, but the max cpu speed is 800. Id like to have more options, go faster, stay very stable w/out adding any new issues/bugs, and maintaining everything else as is. Any suggestions?

Chevyno1's kernels are a good start. P3droids are good as well. Might have some trial and error though as not all kernels like all phones. Flash them just like a ROM.

Where can I find the stand alone kernels that are the most up to date.

However, keep in mind that the 9-23 kernels don't play as nicely with most phones as the 8-1 kernels did. With that in mind, if you can find a source for the 8-1 kernels you should give them a try if the 9-23 kernels don't work.
