    How to make a Powermat case for Droid 1! PICS included!

    Hey, So earlier today on this forum I told someone I would research the touchstone wireless charging hack and see if I could make it work for the Droid1.

    The problem was you would have to void your warranty to solder the correct wires. So I came up with a better idea, salvage the powermat back case from an EVO powermat set, and use the electronics inside to make a powermat case for the droid 1. This was SUPRISINGLY easy, took about 5 mins to get the electronics to work, no soldering required really.


    I will post a video of the working electronics, and pics for a how to in the second post! But I have yet to bondo a case together to make it look good, so that will be what comes next.


    Enjoy everyone! We now have wireless charging for our Droid 1's!!!

    Thanks for the great response, always feels good when people enjoy an idea on these forums.

    I finished A case for it, but I'm not happy with it completely, as it's JUST too thick for the magnets in the powermat the help it align completely, but I'l probably post a couple pics of it none the less. I saw a droid 2 extended battery cover for 8 bucks that I am going to attempt to use, but thats a couple weeks out, in the meantime I plan on sanding the case I have to make it thinner so the powermat can align correctly every time.

    Awesome idea!

    Or an even easier thing to do, so that we don't have to void any warranties would just be to get a female micro-usb, then splice the wires into the extender for the powermat, then bondo it into our hacked up case. This way it would still have a usb port, but the powermat would always stay plugged in without voiding the warranty.


    Great idea, now let's get the ball rolling!
