New Slide Unlock / Old Slide Unlock

Now that 2.0.1 has come out, they decided to change the slide unlock from the arch to line.

Since we now have root access, is it possible to change this back to the arch unlock that I much prefer. The line unlock is to much like the iFail.

The reason they changed it was because people were failing to unlock it quickly because they weren't pushing it in an arch motion. I'm sure there's got to be a way. I, personally, prefer the new lock screen... much more elegant.

But you didn't have to do the arc motion in order to achieve greatness. A simple slide from left to right was enough (is, for me, as I'm on a Milestone and still no 2.0.1 on the horizon ). But I can't wait for the new styled thing, because I think it looks awesome plus I like the new non-centered stuff on the lock screen.

Right, because it was the motion that folks miss. Not the old visual.

i liked the old because it was different, and i think we should just have the choice. maybe a setting? if its "customizable", why dont they let us 'customize'

I agree, you should have a choice. I like the arch style, it WAS differant. Android is differant that's why I got the DROID.

So, here is to hoping someone figures out how you can change it.

It's a bit frustrating they're touting the droid as this open platform you can do anything on. Why don't we call verizon, google, or motorola and ask to have our old unlock. Or put multitouch in our browser. THey'll tell us to download an app for that. I guess marketplace is just an excuse for OEMs to be lazy in the software department.

I really do not like the new unlock. The unlock is lower on the screen which makes the phone more difficult to hold. Also, the straight horizontal movement is not very natural feeling. Some have said that you can still do the arched motion and it will work. It DOES NOT work.

Please give us an option to change it back!
