The link to ChevyNo1 Kernals?
K, found it.
FIst, yes, I did flash incorrect sbf yesterday and then reflashed with correct one. Followed instructions this morning again and successfully flashed went into recovery and droid doesn't seem to want to install .zip.
Top menu bar reads "Intall/sdcard/update.zip (deprecated). When clicked it goes through some motions and then gives' "installation aborted", progress bar seems to be stopped about 1/4 of the way.
Suggestions?

I saved as "U"pdate.zip instead of update.zip. Used cap U. So reinstalled and install seemed to work and got "install from sd card complete" although status bar is stuck about 1/3 of the way.
Do I push camera key to move progress and reboot or ...?
MotoCache1_Complete_Root_v.1.1-update.zip-ZIP archive, unpackaged size 1,561,121
rebooted and no change to phone, still not rooted although when I ran the sript Droid said it was successfully rooted. I also did a Nandroid backup andthe folder is named BDS-19700101-0000, doesn't look current?
okay, looks like success! I recopied the file to my phone without ".zip" and reloaded and all went well. Now have SU permission. A GREAT BIG thanks to all who took the time to help me.
One more question, when downloading a ROM I assume I need to delete any file named "download.zip" before I download a ROM and name "download.zip" before flashing, seems obvious, but I don't want to mess up now that things seem to be working.
Thanks again,
Yeah, Linux is case sensitive and that throws users who aren't used to it.
I've noticed Nandroid does that sometimes. Never observed a pattern to it -- just that sometimes the backup doesn't have the current date on it.
Actually, it was still "update.zip" but your Windows is set at the default of hiding file extensions (which is a horrible thing in my opinion and everyone should change it immediately). I try to deal with this particular Microsoft abomination by phrasing my rename instruction quite deliberately, but the instructions are pretty huge and it's probably easy to start skimming over things.
In any event, it sounds like you're working. Congrats.Do not unzip the MotoCache1_Complete_Root_v1.1-update.zip file that you downloaded in Step 5 of "things you're going to need". You need to copy this file to the root of your phone's SD card and then rename it to update.zip. Note: If on your computer you see the file listed as "MotoCache1_Complete_Root_v1.1-update" (no .zip on the end) then when you copy it to the phone you should name it just "update" (no ".zip"). There are several ways to do this (ADB, mount the phone's file system, etc.). Use which ever you're comfortable with. If you don't know how to do this there are tons of posts on it.

When I tried to update Droidmod and it would bring up the Droidmod screen and then go black (basically phone shut down, no power) and I thought I could not even power up to get into recovery, I notice that if I removed the battery while still plugged in it would reboot. So I plugged in and let it do it's thing which lead to shut down, dropped battery in my lap and quickly pressed power and x key. This opened recovery option and I was able to restore.
Thought this might be helpful to others.
