The droid( at least mine) plays mp4 standard, otherwise, "there's an app for that" lol. I like arcMedia from the market.

convert any file with Handbrake and use the ipod touch preset. works like a charm and quality is unmatched.

Try using the Droid X VideoPlayer.apk. It works perfectly on the Droid and will play some formats the standard Vplayer will not.
Download attached zip, rename from .zip to .apk , push to system/app then select a video and you will have 2 choices , select Video Player option and give it a try.
Personally I use DVD Catalyst from tools4movies.com, there's a free version, but I paid the 10 bucks, it has some nice "pre-defined" Moto Driod formats from standard to HD. Works great everytime.

Oh yeah I did use the free version for about a month was so happy with it felt guilty not paying the 10![]()

Some videos on iTunes are in the M4V format. For most of them you can rename the ".m4v" to ".mp4" and they'll play fine. You can either rename them on your computer before transferring them to the phone, or you can rename them in the phone using a file manager, like Astro (free).
Have you tried Handbrake yet?

I simply use Astro. it has worked with everything I have thrown at it
