Question about getting Root

[TK40]

So I recently unrooted back to stock 2.0 so I can get 2.2, but now I realized that I can't root if I am on 2.2.

So what should I do now? Should I go back to 2.0.1 and root my Droid, then update to 2.2?

Any other options?

I thought androot and easy root both would root 2.2.

Androot will root frg01b but not frg22d.
Easyroot will not do either iirc.

Yes my end goal is 2.2 and to be rooted.

I am running frg22d, so I guess that means I have to downgrade?

I should add that I already tried rooting using link 3 and I had an error which did not allow it to complete, and then I got stuck in bootloader. I had to flash 2.0 just to get out of bootloader.

If at all possible I would avoid easy root and the one step methods. they do not seem to be reliable. I too have a guide in my signature that will help you root.
