Significant lag before home screen items show up after removing Droid from car dock.

When I remove my Droid from the car dock (landscape mode) and hold it in portrait orientation, I just see my wallpaper for a good 4+ seconds before my home screen items show up (icons/widgets/launcher).

Would overclocking help fix this? How else can I reduce the lag/delay?

I've overclocked my Droid to 1GHz. It has not helped the lag for the icons to appear. What has "helped" but not solved the problem is loading LauncherPro. It is available on the market. It is a pain to set up because you must recreate each home page in LauncherPro but once you have it set up, it is really nice. Also, you can customize the launch bar at the bottom of the screen and add notifications that the stock Droid Launcher lacks, like number of emails or missed calls in red. It is way more noticeable than the notifications up top. You can set up to 7 home screens. Last, it has a nice backup/restore function to save your setup to SD card.
