New method of rooting, no need to get fancy with the SDK...

but update to 2.0.1 before you do this
    This way seems much easier.
    Has anyone tried it yet?

Ok I just finished this on my DROID.

The guide is not exactly clear, but it works.

When you extract the android-sdk file, it extracts a android-sdk folder, you have to take the files inside that folder, and put it in the C:\Android folder for the rest of the guide to work.

Also, the su.zip file should be extracted into the tools folder.

I'll come back in a bit and upload my own simplified guide for everyone else.

EDIT: A guy posted a file that does the root via an update file. Its a few posts above my post. Use that, your newbies =]

Just finished rooting my droid. Went into terminal and did a su and I recieved root access. I had an issue the first time I tried and didn't have 3G or any data for that matter. Retried and worked the second time. Now I put it on my media dock to charge and the weather doesn't work. So I installed accuweather and sure enough the GPS won't work in accuweather. Since that's what the droid is using for the media dock I'm pretty sure something is miffed for the permission for the use the of GPS for it. The GPS does work as I went to maps and found me via gps their.

I'm having the problem with weather too. Is this because of root or the latest update?

I am hoping someone is on right now that can hopefully lend a hand. I thought I followed the directions but once I get to the CMD section nothing seems to be working it says it cannot find the path for the first line.

maybe I'm dumb because it's 4 in the morning but I thought I did it all correct. Help?
