-
lmao don't mind my non-sense of not figuring everything out. I should probably have all THREE files and not just two. hahaha

I looked in the original sdk zip file and did not see the tools folder there: here is what I see in the sdk zip file.
I get an error: The system cannot find the path specified when I typed in cd c:Android\tools
If I take off tools, it didn't give me that error message.
I appreciate you help.
that's the newest android sdk? seems like there is no file structure there. all files were dumped in one directory? there should be a few folders... one of them being tools... redownload from google.
That is the Zip application file explorer showing, if you unzip the zip it will create the directories for you.

in need of some help
Once you have all these files downloaded, extract them all into a new folder at C:\Android
You should now connect your Droid to your computer and Mount the SD Card through the phone (A dialogue will pop up on your phone asking to connect your SD Card. Click Mount)
Go to the C:\Android folder you created. Rename the file droid-root.zip to update.zip. Then take update.zip and move it to the SD Card on your phone.
Once this is done, unplug your phone and turn it off by holding the top button, then selecting Power Off.
Open your phone's keyboard. Hold down the letter X key on the keyboard and power your phone on WHILE HOLDING THIS KEY DOWN. You will see the Motorola logo, followed by a graphic with an ! mark on it. At this time let go of the X key and the power button. Press and hold the Volume + key on the side of your phone, then press the camera button while holding the Volume + key.
Now you will be presented with a menu. Navigate to "update" using the D-pad, and click the middle button. Now wait for the process to finish.
When it is complete, your phone will power up again. Go to Settings->Applications->Development and check the USB Debugging checkbox.

(Add a step to install the USB Moto Driver or else you will run into DEVICE NOT FOUND error when you start to use ADB
Driver located here: http://www.motorola.com/consumers/v/...008806b00aRCRD

The new droid-superuser method is much easier than the method in the OP. Also, su requests must be approved which is a nice security feature.

I get
$ su
su
su: Permission Denied

I had an issue the first time I tried and didn't have 3G or any data for that matter. Retried and worked the second time. Now I put it on my media dock to charge and the weather doesn't work. So I installed accuweather and sure enough the GPS won't work in accuweather. Since that's what the droid is using for the media dock I'm pretty sure something is miffed for the permission for the use the of GPS for it. The GPS does work as I went to maps and found me via gps their.
I'm having the problem with weather too. Is this because of root or the latest update?
I think this was just a glich. I've been reading on other forums of people having the same issue, whether rooted or not rooted, but it seems to be working now for most people. Also seems to happen more so after the update.
We'll probably see little things like this happen until 2.0 gets a little more ironed out, I guess.
