Flashing SPRecovery over 2.2 is been giving some users problems, the safest thing to do is: flash back to 2.0.1 then flash SPR then install any Rom you like. Follow this guide: SBF to root and to unroot
Do option 1, then 5, then 2
New To Rooting?

I did use the same way used to root stock 2.1 (How to: Root Android 2.1 and Install Android 2.2 on Motorola DROID | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog) for rooting stock 2.2 and still work well; the only problem is that after you flash the sbf file, your phone's battery will be drained out (even it's fully charged) and the battery icon is turn to die as well as your phone's temperature will be really high. All of the problems will be sovled when you remove your battery, put it back and charge your phone, flash a custom rom. I hope that this can help someone.
