Thread: Easy root/ ROM Manager Question (kinda noob)

    ok so i watched the last video and now i am confused.... i dont need to be rooted to run a custom rom ??? because i just want to install the frozen liquid yogurt rom with the blueberry theme on my phone i dont care about overclocking or anything els

    although my phone is a little slow with the forced 2.2 update but this was like a week after before i was running good

    no i am not i just followed droid life instructions dropped the update.zip on my sd card and installed it threw stock recovery so i didnt need to be rooted for that but the last video i watched siad install custom rom with no root alll they had on was sprecovery and then installed it the same way install.zip on root of sd

    Let me try to get everything clear because I'm getting confuse.

    1.- You are not rooted but want to be rooted
    2.- You are running FRG01B 2.2 that came out last week correct?
    3.- Are you going to root thru "easy root" or using the videos" if you are using the videos and you are running 2.2, I don't think thats the way to go, since last thing I know, those videos are for stock 2.1 update 1

    Can you answer those 3 questions please?

    yes i do want to root mainly because i want a custom rom, yes i am running 2.2 frg01b and want rooted 2.2 i was going to use easy root but posted early was told that its better to do it threw sprecovery

    OK. This is what I will do.

    Root thru easy root.
    Install ROM Manager from the market
    Open it and flash (install) Clockworkmod
    Run a backup (or nandroid backup, thru RM)
    Install your 2.2 rooted thru RM
    Done

    ok and were do i get the 2.2 rooted file? or will rom manager have that ?? and then after 2.2 is rooted install my rom that i want to install ?

    oh sorry one more thing, after i make a nandroid back up befor i do anything els i should mount my droid to my comp and copy my nandroid back up to the desktop just for safe keeping right? and it will be on the sd card fold is nandroid correct?

    sorry i just want to make sure i no exactly what i am doing befor i try it i feel like i have a good idea so far

    you can use Pete's 2.2 rooted


    edit: Can someone confirm if the file needs to be renamed to update.zip, I don't remember?
