    Downgrade from Official 2.2 Froyo to Stock 2.1

    So, on my Motorola Droid. I was rooted on unofficial 2.1 then decided to unroot, HARD reset my phone wipe everything and start fresh to download the newly released manual update for Froyo 2.2!

    I downloaded, installed it and all that good stuff. Now I'm wondering about how to downgrade from Official 2.2 to Official 2.1-update1 because I want to root once back on Stock 2.1 to Pete's rooted Froyo 2.2 ROM!

    I believe you can just put the 2.1 update.zip on your SD card, boot to stock recovery, then install update.zip.. Correct me if I'm wrong.
    I need a girl who's name doesn't end in ".JPG"

    It should work but where do you get the firmware update?

    I cannot find the update anywhere. Not only that... but why is this update impossible to revert it seems? Any factory reset should always reset it to out the box and then update from there.

    I'm getting really frustrated with 2.2. It constantly freezes on me, the battery is getting very hot, and I'd rather just get back to stock.

    Just purchase Easy Rooter for a buck. You should be able to go back to 2.1 that way, but I don't know why you would. http://support.vzw.com/pdf/system_update/moto_droid.pdf

    i am interested in doing it too, the speaker is going out on me, and i need to get a replacement phone. i would not like to get caught with a hacked system, so i am gonna need to go back to 2.1 also. easy root should do this?

    ok so i found a 2.1 update and put it on my sd card and rebooted and whatever, and it aborted the update...so i guess you cant do it like that
