    Can't root my Moto Droid 2.1 stock

    Ok so for the past 2 days I have been trying to root.....every time I try to flash it fails IMMEDIATELY. I have read 5 different step by step guides, watched dozens of youtube videos.....still nothing.

    Windows 7 64 bit

    downloaded the 64 bit drivers
    downloaded the SBF file
    downloaded rsd lite version 4.6

    Even uninstalled and re-downloaded every file 10 times or more now. Still nothing. Switching to another PC isn't an opition because every PC in my house is windows 7 64 bit and it doesn't work on any of them.

    Admin access on all the PC's
    sbf file in root c drive
    nothing at all

    Even tried to flash back to 2.01 and that didn't work either.

    DMUpdater updated to root Droid 1, Droid X, and EVO 4G within app

    This is new, is supposed to do the trick. It gets sprecovery on your phone and everything for you.

    Let us know how you make out.

    If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
    If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
    hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

    Do I unzip it and place the 3 files on the SD card or do I just place the whole zip on the sd card ?

    Ok it WORKS ! Fast too. Just a few things I must point out.

    1. People need to download astro file manager.
    2. Put the zip file on to SD card.
    3. Open up astro, rename the zip file to apk.
    4. Then you can click on the file, install it and root.

    The way you guys explained on here, you gave the false impression that the file automatically downloads as an apk file and all you had to do was download and hit install.

    It isn't as simple as that. But it works. I am rooteddddddddddddddd
