Wanting to root. But wheres the one click root for droid to make it easier?

I would like to root my phone, But I wanna know If i can, A keep the stock OS and kernal and just be rooted so that I can overclock. I also want to keep all my files and apps but still have the posibility of installing custom roms later. Is this possible?

Wheres the one click root for droid 1?

Milestone and Droid are not the same. Don't use anything for the Droid for the Milestone kernels/roms wise.

Maybe try droidmod? Its behind the others but the process was really easy. I started off like you and just wanted to root to overclock. Rom manager is something you should also look into.

Easiest way to root is just flash the 2.1 SPRecovery SBF and flash any rom.

You mentioned you wanted to keep the stock kernel. The stock kernel maxes out at an underclocked 550Mhz so you will need to flash an overclocking kernel. The process is simple though. And the process of rooting a Droid isn't overcomplicated. As long as you can read (which I assume you can since you've posted here) and follow directions then you will be fine.

Yes you can just root your droid (rsdlite flash the sprecovery_ese81.sbf files and install the root "update.zip"). You will not be able to overclock though as that is controlled by the kernel and the stock kernel doesn't go above 550mhz.

There is no one-click method, there hasn't been since 2.1-update1 OS was pushed out. You have to manually do it...using a windows based PC, RSDLite, the appropriate USB drivers, the SPRecovery_ESE81.sbf file and the root "update.zip" file.
