Nevermind I got my droid back on recovery the next day I flash 2.2 os rom from sd card to pc. Problem solve and I love the new kernal I flashed 1.3 ghz awesome. People they have 1.4 ghz out for android rooter.

i just get my droid 1 about 14 hrs ago ...

i'm very sorry if all of you guys already bored with this question.

i get my hset already use froyo, i assume my phone already rooted, but actually how do i get the result like if i type the command "whoami"

my hset still dont have phone number , and i will inject my number, is there any special thread to inform me step by step to setup my phone number, including setting EVDO.

I'm nor sure how u can assume ur phone is rooted. If that is the case this is a new one for me (I'm not being sarcastic at all)

I kept hearing about rooting and I had no idea what it is or why I would want to do it. Thank you so much for explaining it in a way that I could understand. I've come to the conclusion that I'm not going to root my phone because I'm just not smart enough to use it to its full potential. With my luck I'll have a nice new paper weight if I tried to root.

Root just means your logging onto the Linux Operating System as an Admin!

If you were a "End User" in a company, and the company didn't want you to have Administrative Privileges to your own desktop PC running a Linux Operating system, then they would deny you Root access, and or Super User Access.

So by rooting your phone your just getting around the crap that Verizon has had built in to your phone, to stop you from having Admin Rights, on your own phone that you purchased! There is no reason in the world that you shouldn't have Root access to begin with! IT'S YOUR PHONE!!!!

The reason they do this is so that they can "TRY to force you to pay them", for each an every little feature, that is already built into the phone!
If anyone tries to give you some garbage about how it's to protect the phone, or you from damaging your phone, well that's all it is, GARBAGE!!

You all do realize that Linux is a Free operating system, and it's not meant to have any restrictions right! ???
