rar file

I am trying to root my droid and by searching threads I realized that my problem is that I need to make the sapphire update that I downloaded a rar file. I am sorry if this is a ridiculous post but I am not that experienced with this kind of stuff and need help.

Have you installed SPRecovery? If so, then just download the Sapphire rom and gapps. Rename the rom to update.zip, copy to your SD card, and boot into recovery, make a backup, wipe (3 times) then install and install (dec) reboot. Once the phone reboots, do not reactivate or login to your Google account, mount your phone, rename or delete the rom update.zip from your SD card, rename the gapps download to update.zip, move to your SD card, boot into recovery and install, install (dec) (do NOT wipe when installing the gapps) then reboot. This time reactivate and sign in to your Google account.
