    Can I use dm updater using stock 2.1 to root and If not what app can I use to root my phone

    No, dm updater won't work. But if your goal is to get Froyo then you can install SPRecovery without rolling back to 2.0.1.

    Froyo comes with root. You can find it in the Forum. If you really can't let me know and I'll get you a link.
