Warranty?

I'm new but have had experience with flashing before. I know that rooting voids your warranty, but if I were to revert to factory settings and unroot, is my warranty still valid?\

It depends if you want an ethical or technical standpoint...

If you root it, warranty is voided, there is no getting it back.

But they won't know if you do...

Sort of. There are ways of knowing if a Droid has been tampered with, however, in all likelihood they won't bother checking those. VZW employees are trained to recognize a rooted Droid, however. My sister had rooted and (somehow) managed to screw up her Droid's ROM, so she took it in to Verizon (while I wasn't there to fix it) and they immediately said she had voided her warranty. They gave her a warning and a refurb though.

I've heard quite a few of those stories.

If you remove the root the only way they can tell you've been rooted is by looking at your SD card. Clean that up before going back to Verizon to be sure if you'd like but I wouldn't worry about it. Like the above poster said they gave his sister a refurb even though they knew it was rooted.

Can you tell me what these ways are? To enhance my knowledge. Didn't think they could tell if you SBF it to stock.

Once you root and lets say something goes wrong with the phone and you have to turn it back into Verizon, you can unroot (return it to stock) the phone and return it Verizon and they will honor the warranty. The only way they can tell if your phone has been rooted is if they look at the files on your sd card. The files for rooting are stored there. However, there is no reason for them to look at the sd card and in most cases they don't. After rooting my husbands phone his front keys stopped working. I unrooted it and took it to verizon. The rep pulled my sd card cuz he said that he did not want to corrupt it while he was checking the phone. He found no voidable issues with the phone so he reinserted the sd card and told me that my refurbished would be to my house in a couple of days. No questions asked.
