A simple nandroid question

After making a backup and having transferred the backup files to the PC, should I delete the ones inside of the nandroid directory on the sdcard? What happen when I do the next backup? Will they be overridden or else?

Any thoughts?

They are named by the date and time the backup is done so the ones on your phone will not be overwrote because the new backup files will have a different name
