Having Trouble

I'm fairly new to the Motorola Droid. I heard recently about rooting and it sounded interesting, so I thought I'd give it a try. Not to mention I can get Froyo early, which is what really got me. I have the update.zip file and I put it in my SD card. Now, when I go into recovery mode I get an error at the bottom that says E: can't open /cache/recovery/command. When I do to apple sdcard:update.zip it won't root the phone. I am new so I don't understand much about it all and I appreciate assistance. Thank you.

I'm not clear on what process you are using or where you are in the process. My sense is that you are trying to root. If that is correct here is a link http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hac...ot-unroot.html
that will step you through the rooting process. Once you complete the rooting process you can install one of the new Froyo roms.
