Help! Can't open a port or create a port, or see a port for my Moto Droid

for some reason when i download the motorola drivers(32-bit) and put my moto droid on diagnostic mode, i go on control panel and go to the phone and modem option, i don't see the motorola droid modem installed. So after searching around, i found that i can create a COM port with the program called HW Virtual Serial Port, by following the thread http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hac...twork-prl.html
but when i go to the command prompt and type in ipconfig/all, i dont ee my moto droid, and also my ip address in the command prompt is 76.108.35.72, and when i go to the HW Virtual Serial Port and put my ip and even 76.108.35.73, with port 11008, all i see in the LAN part is error as status and QPST does not see my phone even though it sees the port i created when i add new port, but still does not see my phone which is in diagnostic mode, and i even tried USB debugging, and still does not work.
Can someone help Me?

I rooted prior to this methodology so I do not have any first hand experience. Things to check:
Do you have the correct set of drivers (32 vs 64 bit)?
Did you set admin privilege?

Many uses say it may take several unsuccessful attempts.
Other indicate that they have better success with XP

i instillated the correct drivers, and i dont have vista, so i dont need administrator privilage, and i try rooting, and fail too many times
