I would like to warn people that although this is cool it will take additional time to boot up,
It won't recognize the files as installed for a long time.
Also,
I'm a rook and I'm not sure and I'm probably wrong but, now can't you just copy paid for program folders and then send them to people?
I wouldn't want to do that, I'm just wondering,,,

Guys, Android is a Linux based operating system,
you HAVE to follow commands "caSe sEnsitive"
You can't enter Pm or all lower case.
I tried the command and it worked like a charm!!!

I had to do "su -" first. It did not find pm in the path if I just did "su"

MODS! Sticky this post:
Correct Syntax for command in Froyo from terminal emulator is:
pm setInstallLocation 2
OG Droid w/ Pete's GPA16 w/ stock Kernel using auto OC script. (retired)
LG G2X w/ rooted 2.3.3 leak.
It's OK for your Droid to be different. Just be supportive and reassuring and it will do just fine. It's when you or other people point at it or mock it for being different is when its' feelings get hurt. Just show it unconditional love regardless of its' differences and it will in turn reciprocate that love and loyalty.

I'm guessing he posted from the droid, and it decided to helpfully auto-correct his linux commands to start with capital letters :-P
Cool CM Tricks
custom_backup_list.txt - make a list of files in /system that will survive a nightly install (ringtones, notifications, system apps, wallpapers, whatever)
in Terminal Emulator, set this as your shell command: "/system/xbin/su -c /system/xbin/bash". You get all the features of bash, root access, and you can still use the initial command field for whatever you want (default is adding /data/local/bin to your path)

Awesome, works good
Thanks for the tip rican408
edit: it looks like apps are installed to sd by default after running this command
