Any root savvy people in the Tacoma, WA area?

I'll just be honest. I consider myself tech savvy but not savvy enough to mess with my phone. Damn meathead military folk :\ I want the root goodies, especially all these cool themes I see on this site, and Setcpu.

If there is someone conveniently located to me I can pay for you to hook my Moto Droid up, or maybe show me the play-by-play. I'm not 100% retarded but like I said, not hack-savvy.

Can reply here or send me a PM.

    Thanks.

it's not as bad as you think man. just start reading and then playing with your phone. you can always fix a problem you run into by reading on forums. even if you found someone to root your phone and load a rom into it you'd be in a worse position. you need to know what you've done so when you run into issues you know how to work through them.

Why you gotta be a Steelers fan? Haha, joking. Generous offer. Are you able to walk me through it so I can wipe my own arse thereafter?

    I'm in Kent

But it's really easy to do. The most important thing to do is to not to unplug your device until you need to. This guys videos and instructions are gold. Just read through it and watch the instructions and you will have a rooted phone in no time. Guide to Rooting Android 2.1 on a Motorola Droid | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog

Also make sure you install the correct drivers for RSD lite on your computer and DO NOT USE Internet Explorer to download anything. Use Firefox or Chrome web browsers.

    Any questions just PM me.

Apparently I'm such a noob that I found out I had already semi-rooted my phone by adding the 2.2 ROM. A kind gent on these forums pointed that out and then told me to install the update.zip toward the bottom of Download: Android 2.2 for Motorola Droid | Droid Life: A Motorola Droid Blog

Did that, and it worked. Rooted with 2 files...that I was being a baby about. Seems like that was way easier than what I've read.

Just added the 1.1 kernel and now going to try my first theme.

    What a noob I am :P

    Thanks for the suggestions
