see post 13 for an actual guide instead of what was my plan of attack. Much easier to follow, and mine was really more of a "amidoinitrite?"
Stock 2.1 to 2.2 Froyo Step By Step installation
---------------------------------------
I'm a techy kind of guy, but I've never bothered with rooting my phone as I didn't really see the point too much. However I saw how long it took to get 2.1 for my droid, so I've decided to move to 2.2 a bit earlier than the official update.
Before I start I just wanted to make sure I've got all my ducks in a line. So if i could have somebody look over my plan of attack and let me know if I'm missing anything, or if there is something that I should be aware of.
First, in case i change my mind or need to bring my droid in for warranty, i found the following to unroot and bring me back to stock.
*Easiest* way to get back to stock (No root, no busybox)
Next I plan on following this guide to install sprecovery on my stock 2.1 droid.
How-To Root your stock 2.1 Droid
(i believe all i need to get to is the point where I have sprecovery installed as the next step is restoring a nandroid backup that already has root enabled. Am I right?)
Ok, now I'm going to use the following to get me some froyo.
Download Froyo (2.2) for Your Motorola Droid ! ! !
and because I want my wifi to work, i'm going to grab a new kernel from here.
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/p...-wifi-fix.html
Now that last link seems a little light on the installation instructions of that new kernel, so does anybody know what I need to do to get that kernel installed?
Thanks in advance for your help.
