Flashing back to 2.0.1 question

Ok so I have tried using vtothez's video about flashing a Droid from 2.1 to 2.0.1 so that I can root my Droid. Well I do everything in the video but when I get to the part of starting the flashing processes in RSD Lite I can't seem to click the start button. It stays grayed out no matter what. It detects my phone but won't let me do anything with the file.

Did you select the sbf with the "..." button?

That's also the old way to do it....

Search/look for the threads on just flashing the recovery part with RSDlite. You flash SPRecovery and then can run the update.zip for root access. Much easier and less potential issues than flashing the entire phone back to 2.0.1.

I did it to my brother's 2.1-update1 phone and it was almost as simple as rooting my 2.0.1 phone.

Yes that was the only way to pick the file I believe.

I will have to take a look at those.

If this helps for anything when I pick the file there is no file properties under where it is supposed to list it.

I've had the same problem a couple of times.

1. make sure you are running RSD as administrator
2. try putting a space or two at the end of the .sbf then delete the spaces, some have reported this gets the start box to ungray.
3. don't do it that way, just start at 2.1 (no root) then use RSD to flash the sprecovery .sbf in the "root/unroot" thread. Then you can just use spr to flash any custom ROM with the superuser.apk and you will be rooted.

Sometimes the 2.0.1 .sbf doesn't work for me either but the sbrecovery.sbf always has.

i have never once had an issue with the 2.0.1 SBF file... are you XP, Vista or 7??

my phone has been flashed using this process at least 15-20 times now...
