Trying to overclock droid and having issues

Im new to the whole rooting a phone and what not but i believe i have done everything right? I used

to root my phone and in my app tray it does show SU permissions, however when i try to use setcpu to overclock the processor it only lets me take it to 528mhz?

Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this thing overclocked?

Do you have a kernel installed that will allow you too overclock? If so when you open setcpu go to the settings and where it has you select the device choose auto select then you should be good to go

You need a different kernel loaded as the stock one will not let you go any higher.

Did you load a custom rom or are you running stock rooted?

Bekit, p3droid, jake those are all devs who make kernels oh yeah and chevy. I think any kernel will work on stock rooted but I may be wrong. You can look for threads from any of them

I know chevy is here on df but I dont think any of the others have three own personal threads here....i if you go into custom roms and start looking at them most have kernel links right in there

Don't feel bad, everyone starts somewhere.

Personally, I would take some time to read up and learn a few things before diving into this. You can probably figure it out without doing so but you should learn about it a bit in my opinion.

The kernel devs who are making these custom kernels allow the CPU to clock higher than the stock kernel provided as well as support for other cool things.

There are a lot of great threads out there on these topics, take a few hours and search around and read and then try stuff on your own, it's the only way to get really get more savvy with it.

So i went over to his forum and looked, is there a certain kernel i should get? Just asking while i read....i want to learn all about the phone and options but really want to get my droid to 800-900mghz in the meantime
