Anything 1ghz or above locks up my Droid on Cyanogen?

Hey guys, so I've been working with installing Cyanogen today, looks and works great by the way. Now, I'm looking to overclock my Droid.

I bought both the Rom Manager and setCPU, and installed Cyanogen with Smoked Glass. Now, when I try to overclock, I used both the P3 and Bekit roms, it freezes up as soon as I have the max slider hit 1000 or higher.

Is there any reason to this? Any way around it?

I'd really like to OC my Droid to see how fast it would go, but I can't do that if the thing locks up.

Oddly, not all phones are made the same. Some people's phones can lock up at 1 ghz like yours, while others can run 1.3 smoothly. It is possible that your Droid cannot run the 1 ghz, but if you want, you can try a data wipe. If that doesn't work and you are determined to overclock to 1 ghz +, then flash a 2.0.1 sbf, root with Droidmod, and start all over again. But even after this, I can't guarantee you that your phone will accept the speed.

your phones official max clock speed is 600mhz
anything over that, is subjective

also, voltages will play a very important role in which kernel you can run also, and affects the phones ability to be stable.

Actually, before this, I've been running 2.1 Stock, and I did the SBF to 2.0.1 then root to recovery today.

I honestly don't care if I can OC. It's just playing around. The phone is amazing though with this new rom on it.

What about voltage? Would increased voltage help me at all?

You could try flashing a 1.2ghz kernel and only setting the max to 1ghz. I've heard this has worked for people using Bugless Beast. Don't see why the theory wouldn't apply to any rom though.

I currently have no problem with 1ghz on cyanogen but notice better results with bekits kernel over p3droids. It really just depends on the Droid though. As mentioned above, not all droids are created equally.

That's really funny.

I just installed the Bekit 1.2 Ghz increased voltage kernel, and it works up to 1100 mhz now.

I'm installing the 1.1 ghz increased voltage to see if that'll work.

Though, I'd like to go with the LV kernels to see if they help with battery life.

UPDATE: I just installed the 1.1 Ghz Increased Voltage kernel, works perfectly.

I should be trying to install either standard or LV, right?

I know for a fact that LV causes lock up 1.0 or higher, so I'll try standard.

ive never seen much of anything but issues with low voltage.
low voltage and high voltage, if not acceptable by your chip, are both just as bad.

Yeah, so it turns out for a couple of facts.

My phone is maxed out at 1100mhz, and will only accept standard or high voltage kernels.
