I need help rooting my 2.1 the video on youtube doesn't justify evry step bsides that if I medd up I **** up my droid.the downloads don't specify to download to my phone or my computer and the extract unzip bull**** fathoms me to where I do so.if any one has help please send me a message.thanks
Dude. Please. Relax. Your droid is fine.
1. Get the files. You need the .SBF file (don't do anything with it. put it on the top level folder / root directory of your drive. In Winbloze that's C:\) You need the RSDLITE.
2. Install RSDLITE. I have seen strong suggestions to do this as Administrator and not as YourUserNameHere. So log out. Log in as Administrator ... and install it.
3. Install the drivers. If you're on a 64-bit system... install the 64-bit drivers. Otherwise, the 32-bit drivers. If you're not sure, go to Settings->System and see what it says.
4. Run RSDLITE. Select the SBF. Flash the Droid.
Please advise what steps you would like further clarified OR what is missing. I've got nothing to do for another 17 minutes...

Looking for some help. Ive tried this on 2 different computer and cant get it to work. When you run the rsd app and hit "show device" im not getting anything over to the left under device properties as in this picture, but it does show in the bottom that its connected. Does it have to show over on the left before I hit start? I really dont want to screw this up.

It it showing something under Model? Did u try left clicking in that device properties window with the mouse?
I cant remember... its been awhile since I used it, but I dont think it has to show. It says connected so it should be fine. But see if it says something under Model first.

I went ahead and tried it and it worked. I have the nandroid thing there and have going through all the steps up to making a back up. What do I do at that point?? Do I just power off the phone?? Where is the backup saved?
I think I got it. I got through all the steps and didnt have any problems beyond the first issue with rsd lite where I was unsure what to do. I was doing this so I could wifi tether my iPad. Im making my 2nd nandroid backup at the moment, then going to install the app to tether so will know very shortly.
I got it!!! iPad tethered and working. TY for the guide. You ppl are smarter than I could ever hope to be.
