Ninja Icon, no SU rights!! Help!!!

Ok, so I have rooted my droid before, I had to return it due to the headphone jack flaw.

Now, I got a new droid. It came with 2.1 official on it. I used the same method as on previous droid (sbf'd to 2.01 then update.zip the voles+update files).

I had 2.1 and the superuser icon, but no superuser rights. I know my .zip is good, as it is the same file that rooted (successfully) before.
So I tried again, no dice.

Now I just went back to 2.01. And just ran the straight root, I was going to just install custom rom from 2.01.... Same thing, 2.01 stock, SU icon, no privileges.

I am a newb to android phones, I've rooted and installed Ultimate Droid, on my previous device, and Cyanogenmod to a friends MT3G, but I need you guys help with my problem.

Looks like you are definitely running 2.0.1 now. When you say "no privileges", what do you mean? What have you tried and what errors did you get?

Did you try opening up a terminal emulator and typing "su"? That's the most surefire testing method. If that doesn't work, you're not rooted.

if you havent told anything to allow root access and always allow it then nothing will show up in superuser.
