Droid ---- how to root (((2.0)))

This is a discussion on Droid ---- how to root (((2.0))) within the Droid Hacks forums, part of the Droid Hacking category; SAME THING HERE. I CANT GET THE ROOT TO LOAD TO MY PHONE. I SAVED AS UPDATE AND IT'S STILL IN ZIP FORMAT. any ideas.......

    Hey guys, I think I can help you out. First off, find out if you are rooted already or not. Second find out what OS version you are running. Once you find out what version you are running, you can find out what to do next. Most likely if you are not rooted, you are running 2.1. You can find out for sure by going into settings, about phone, Scroll to the bottom and it will say Android Version, then at the very bottom it will say the build number. If you are running stock 2.1 it should say something like Android Version 2.1, Build number ESE81.
