Have rooted 2.1 but can't get barnacle working

I have 2.1 rooted which I got from combining the two update.zip files as listed on droid-life. I installed barnacle and have the su ninja but it seems like su isn't working because when I try to run barnacle I get a permission denied message. Is there something I have to do to get su to allow barnacle to work? If so, if someone could tell me exactly what to do I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Don't know, I don't have any other apps that require them. If you tell me one, I can try it. I've got the little ninja guy, but nothing listed when I open that up. Is there a command line that I need to type?

Try that one. Once you install it open the terminal and type "su" without quotes. Anything pop up asking for permissions (allow/deny)? Does the $ sign change to a # sign on the next line (like the following)?

nope, it comes back with permission denied.

It sounds like you're not rooted.

I just recently installed Barnacle without any issue and it's working great.

I used RSDLite to get back to 2.0.1. Then I combined the 2.1 update.zip + root.zip to form the 'new' update.zip, copied it over to the root of my SDCard, rebooted while holding X to get into the stock recovery, apply update.zip and rebooted the phone. At this point I had the little ninja icon, which when opened up, showed nothing but a blank black screen. Went into the market, installed Barnacle, fired it up and the first thing it asked me to do was grant permission. Hit the 'remember' box, select Allow....and that was it. I didn't even need to close down Barnacle and re-open like it seems other apps that require permission do.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I'll just try to start over from the beginning.

got it working by reinstalling the update.zip file. Not sure what was wrong originally, but it works now.
