Have rooted 2.1 but can't get barnacle working

I have 2.1 rooted which I got from combining the two update.zip files as listed on droid-life. I installed barnacle and have the su ninja but it seems like su isn't working because when I try to run barnacle I get a permission denied message. Is there something I have to do to get su to allow barnacle to work? If so, if someone could tell me exactly what to do I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

As far as I know, Barnacle won't function if you have a modified kernel installed. It only works with stock kernels. I had the same problem so I installed a stock kernel and it worked. If you want to maintain the kernel you are using, you can use the free app used for wifi tethering with modified kerenels. I have Chevy's 1gHz kernel on ESE81 and Barnacle works fine.

Have ninja superuser but it seems I don't have su. After I reverted back to 2.01 I installed update file for su. Then the phone asked to update to 2.1. I thought it was okay to get su with 2.1. It seems I don't have su and wondering what to do? Thanks for any help.

After I reverted back to 2.01 I installed update file for su.

Revert back to 2.0.1. Do NOT accept the update and do NOT root your phone with the traditional 'update-root.zip' method. Instead what you'll do is download the two files mentioned here and follow those directions.

You will end up with a Droid that:
-has the 2.1 update
-has root access
-has the ability to install/run applications that need a root access...like Barnacle, for example.

It's honestly that easy.
