    Low voltage kernel?

    Whats the advantages in using these? I have always used "normal" ones or the ones that were released before we ever even heard of low voltage ones.

    Can you install one over a current one? Or do I have to use a nandroid backup to when I had the stock kernel?

    in my experiences my phone is a bit more unstable. but if you test it out and its works ok with your phone then go for. i guess it relieves some stress on the cpu.

    You can always install a new kernel over another one.

    A low voltage (LV) kernel lowers the voltage going to the CPU. This creates stability problems for 5% of Droids. However it is completely stable on most Droids. The advantages, basically, very fast speed with better battery life and less heat. You can overclock to 800Mhz and still get better battery life than the 550Mhz stock kernel.

    If the LV causes stability issues, then you can switch to a medium voltage one, which won't get as good battery life, but will likely be more stable.

    I recommend Chevy's 5 or 10 slot LV kernel.
