I am on Droidmod 1.0 based on 2.01 firmware. I have SPRecovery. I can download Pete's update and place it in my sd root folder. I re-start in recovery and choose factory reset and wipe data. I go back to recovery and choose Install, allow update.zip, and install update.zip. Is this correct?
Will I now have ESE81, 2.1 firmware, with root access and the ability to install 2.1 based custom roms, kernals, and overclocking?
Just installed; have all my apps but I can not overclock. Need to figure that out.

**Sorry for the newbie question**
Can I install this onto a stock 2.1 (OEM no root nothing), to get root access & then overclock & wifi tether? And if so can anyone point me in the direction of what I'd need to safely do this?
I am satisfied with the 2.1 update, but having wifi tether & a slight overclock to 800 would be awesome IMO.
That i'm pretty sure you can't you have to go back to 2.0.1...
Wow Pete this is awsome absolutely flies at 1ghz. Benching 180's. Thanks for getting this out!!
I have stock 2.01. I haven't rooted or anything prior. I was waiting for this for a while now..
I saw the ESE81UPDATE.zip and downloaded and tried to install it, but it won't work. I renamed the file and did the install, but I got errors. Also, upon my failure I just rebooted and now I am missing the "clear" button from the notification page.
Can someone help me? Can't seem to get this all sorted out! Thanks!
You needed to root your 2.0.1 and have modified sprecovery in order for this to work...I don't know what you can do now besides installing fresh 2.0.1 again and doing everything all over...
With JIT @ 1.2GHz, this thing benches about 135 for me. ^_^
