Question before starting root, starting in a moment

I am currently going to install (Complete How-To on How to Mod Your Phone (2.1 ROM, O/C, MM, Boot Animation, etc))

    BUT

I would like to ask some simple questions:

Is there a way to backup all my contacts? Also, what other ways should I backup what apps I have and things like that?

I have yet to reset my Droid completely so I have no idea what you lose or not lose.

Rooting completely removes all contacts and apps, correct?

Your contacts are backed up on your Gmail account so you won't lose those. And I used EStrongs file manager to back up my apps, but I've heard titanium backup is better.

    Rooting alone doesn't remove anything.

Isn't Titanium for only after rooting? =/

Okay, been questioning if I should really do this because I am just finally getting used to the phone after having it a couple months.

What rom you running? Also, did you use a guide?

I have rooted, then unrooted. I find that there are to many complaints on here about roms. I run stock. The only benefit for me for rooting was more screens and helix launcher solved that for me.

Did you ever OC? That's my big reason I am going to root because I have so many home screens ( 7 with home++)

No I never OC'd, mainly because I feel like my droid runs warm enough, without OC. Not to say it's a bad thing, but I have a feeling that alot of people that are overclocking might be doing harm in the long run. Thats just my opinion, don't take my word for it.

If you had sync off and added recent contacts be sure to turn sync on so the phone will sync the contacts with your google account before deleting everything.
I am running Chevy's Simply Stunning ROM 2.1 ESE53 and it's running great , no FC whatsoever , I would say it's better than stock . I tried all of them and last time when I changed the ROM I choose this one because on Pete's ROM I had to manualy install Chevy's kernel for OC and it didn't had the Blue theme by default :P .
At 600 MHZ the phone is fast enough, but at 1000 MHZ it's even better . You can use CPUSet profiles for battery saving and still have a fast phone and at 1000MHZ it doesn't get that much hotter than stock .

Depends on which kernel you run for OC. I've found that with some kernels and ROM combinations that the droid runs really cool.
