About LinkBacksI have a question about changing apk's on the Droid.
I have seen threads which explain both ways of doing so, and have always just done an adb push.
Is the method of doing a cut and paste and replacing (using Root Explorer for example) the apk in the System/App folder and then rebooting the phone just as good as an adb push?
Just to have an example would be if you changed the png's in an apk and then normally I would do an adb push to the phone.
The reason I am asking is for now at least, it seems Metamorph isn't 100% comp with quite a few of the 2.1 roms.

Root Explorer has a tendency to screw up permissions.
So really, thats not recommended unless you know what to change the permissions to. -

03-20-2010 03:03 PMi know what you mean there, and i have seen a couple of different threads that gives different answers on that too, as far as which part you need to give permission to.
to date, i have never had a problem using the adb push. little more of a pain in the ass needing to be at your computer, but it does workHTC Thunderbolt

03-20-2010 05:19 PMI tried the copy and paste method with root explorer in concern to the LiveWallpapers.apk - It did not work and I had to do a restore to get my live wallpapers on there again.

03-20-2010 07:25 PMIt really depends. Some things you can do that with. Some apks if you try to use root explorer to just overwrite while the phone is running it will lock up your phone.
