    i have tethering on my rooted droid but i dont understand what exactly it is or what makes it special. would someone mind telling me what it is

    wifi tether turns your phone into both a modem and a wireless router. it's pretty slick.

    Tethering

    I take CalTrain from San Jose, to San Francisco every weekday. That means that I am sitting on my a** for an hour each way. By tethering my phone to my computer, I get internet access during that hour, and can work, or play during that hour which would otherwise be wasted. Saves me money because I don't have to purchase one of those overpriced and limited data plans.
