First of all, thanks to Woodyman for starting the FM radio apk from motorola thread. The system.tar file for another phone is available in that thread and when I went for the worldclock widget I saw the slideshowwidget.apk and tried it out.
It creates a 2x2 widget that scrolls through whatever images reside in the folder you point it to.
For both roots and nonroots I've attached the apk file.
Rename it by removing the .zip at the end, upload it unto your sdcard and install it by clicking on it with the installer through Astro or other methods you might normally use. You'll want to go to Settings, Applications, and check off the box to allow installs from Unknown Sources if you haven't yet.
Then just go to your desktop and do a long-press and choose Widgets to locate the slideshow widget.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.
A clear frame would be cool. I loaded up 4 of the slideshows at once and it was cool that they didn't flip to the next picture at the same time. A tap of any small slideshow widget opens a full screen slide show of that folder too.
For those with 3 screens who say they don't know what to do with an extra 2-4 screens here's one solution for filling up some space.

I've been using it with 3 slideshow widgets and the notpad widget (from the same system.tar file) on one desktop and don't notice anything yet but was on the charger overnight shortly after I set it up. I imagine it doesn't scroll through your folders all the time and only does it when that desktop is active.
