Curious if its worth rooting

hey guys,

i understand that theres hundreds of threads about this question just wanted a more personal answer.

I have a moto droid and am pretty tec savvy, i was curious what i can really do to my phone while rooting other then just full custimization???

also was wondering if this was dangerous at all, ive heard some stuff about bricking a phone but heard its really hard to do,

I undedrstand that its voids the warranty????

and finally im a kid. I dont know if my dad will let me root, thats why im asking, as long as it doesnt void waranty or hurt phone idk why he wouldnt let me

Yes and it is spreading like the plague!

Root Your Droid 10,000 roots and that's just those who grabbed update.zip from them!


For the original poster: Talk this over with your Dad. Show him some of these threads. There are kids like yourself interested in learning more, picking up some skills, and tweaking things. There also are those who are probably 2-3 times your age here who are responsible adults that also root their phones to learn more and customize it.

In reality, you probably don't need wifi-tethering or to have your phone run faster. However you will learn some things. Android is running on Linux. I can also think of worse ways to spend your time as a kid too.

And yes, it voids the warranty so if that's a deal breaker so be it. There are tons of other tweaks you can make to the phone without rooting it.

yes, yes and once you void your warranty it is voided. If you get your phone back into an original state though then the store won't be able to tell.

idk if ill root right away but definatly think about it,

ill probobly wait till 2.1 OS comes out beacouse idk if u have but i played with it but i have and although there are some new good features i didnt like some things and it be nice to root that and change it to how i like,

Also just had the phone for 2 months, goin to have it for two years, ill have plenty of time to root it, eventually
