Using DM1.0 - Smoked Glass ?

Please forgive me for asking rediculous questions regarding my rooted Droid, I'm probably old enough to be most of your Dad. Last night I installed DM 1.0 and love it, OC at 800mhz but afraid to go any higher. I'd like to try to install the Smoked Glass, however I don't want to mess anything up. There is a video on YouTube: - I want to know if I can install the Smoked Glass ROM following his instructions or will I mess up DM1.0 ROM?

Easiest way to do it:


Download metamorph and andexplorer from the market
Download the smoked glass file to your computer
mount your phone to you computer
Move the smoked glass .zip to the androidthemes folder on your SD card
Open up metamorph and find the smoked glass.zip and apply it to your phone (make sure you click on the framework.res one)

Reboot

look up how to make the clock white (there are a thousand threads on it)

I have the DroidMod ROM installed - that was really easy with the DMUpdater. Then I installed Metamorph from the market. Then I downloaded the Smoked Glass Theme from alldroid. There is also a very nice theme by mjones1052 [Metamorph Theme] High Res Blue
Then I extracted the zip file on my computer and moved it to sdcard/androidthemes, then applied it with metamorph.

Apparently the smoked glass theme zip file I put in the androidthemse folder isn't good. It was extracting 5 files but I get a message something is invalid and exits the program. Any idea where to get the smokedglass.zip ? Oh, and I did have metamorph. I just got it this morning when I switched to the transparent news/weather widget.

I am just afraid whatever I do I am going to lose my DM1.0 ROM.
Thanks for your instructions - easy to follow, but I just got the wrong zip file I guess.

I did this yesterday and it doesn't mess up DM1.0.

Anyone -
I just tried another one and for some reason I get messages that it skips things when it is running. For example, it says it can't find contacts (which i know is there). After reboot nothing looks different to me. Am I doing something wrong?

Is DM1.0 a 2.01 rom or a 2.1 rom? If it is 2.01 the framework-res will work fine, but if it is 2.1 it will need some modification. Also what color is the time right now for you? If it is black it may stay black. In which case you would need to look at xUltimate over at alldroid to change the color.

DM is based on 2.0.1 The clock will be black when applying the smoked glass theme, so you have to push a services.jar file to make it white.
