how to gain root after 2.1 OTA

This is how to gain root access after 2.1 is released if you haven't blocked the update.

First, Use RSD Lite and the sbf file to downgrade your phone to 2.0.1.
Install root and sprecovery using your favorite method.
From here you can install any of the other roms of course, However now that pete has released the 2.1 update with root already added you can install that to have official 2.1 and root.
Simply Install the rom from sprecovery and viola, 2.1 for droid with root access!

When 2.1 comes out it will be simple to rip an exact copy of it, it will be ripped that same day.
repackaging it with the root added will also be simple from the rip.
adding root from the phone will require an exploit to be found first.
my method achieves the same outcome only eliminating the wait for an exploit to be found.

He is trying to say that no matter what is in the official OTA 2.1 update that we don't have to wait for root to make changes to the phone. SBF will let you take any Droid phone, on any version/rom, and get it back to the state it was when you picked it up from the store. So if some sort of update.zip method doesn't work after the OTA....SBF will.

the outcome is the same. its common in modding devices to downgrade from the latest firmware to a previous version before modding. rsd allows you to do that since the update removes sprecovery.
