    Removing Stock apps

    Hey everyone,

Tried doing some searching, but couldn't find anything. Currently running BB 7.5, and installed the 2.1 player, but I don't want duplicates (right now there are 2 'music player' apps in my app drawer) - I thought I saw someone post how to rename the stock files but couldn't find it again. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

    I use

I use Root Explorer, its an app in the market I believe. I go into system/app folder and rename to whatever it was with the -bak so I can always go in and put it back.

You find when you start doing this that some of them are needed by Android and the phones acts up. But test it out and see how it works for you.

I'm sure there is an easier way to do it, but this is what I know lol.

    1. Plug phone into cpu and enter the adb shell
    2. type "su"
    3. type "sysrw"
    4. type "cd /system/app"
    5. type "ls"
    6. find the app you want to rename
    7. type "cp /system/app/<filename> /system/app/<filename.bak>
    8. type "rm /system/app/<filename>

These steps will make a backup copy (or a renamed one as you like) and then delete the original file. It should effectively change the name of the file you are trying to remove from your app drawere.
