Music App from 2.1 & Media dock

I used the MusicInstallable.apk that came from 2.1 to replace my existing Music.apk. Only issue I'm having is the dock app crashes when I try to launch the music player by hitting the music note button.

Known problem? Is there a fix? Or is it just me?

    Thanks guys

Using this on a 2.01 version?
If so the DeskClock.apk is probably programmed to look for the Music.apk when you press the button and not MusicInstallable.apk, so that's why it's crashing.

Yep 2.0.1. But I renamed the file to Music.apk and then put it on the phone, replacing the old one.
Just wondered if anyone else has tried it with the 2.0.1 dock.

When u have the music app running, check settings, applications, running services.

should be com.android.music, if it's different that could cause the FC as well.

    It's com.android.musik. <-- with a k
So you've probably found the problem. Now how to fix it....

    Hmm, good question.
Easiest way i think is to just modify the button to look for the correct service, but my understanding is it has to be done with a hex editor and i looked real quick and can't find a reference to the music app in any of the deskclock xml's.
Might be a question the sholes team could answer.

I have the 2.1 music on my phone from sholes and it uses the correct service and is working in the deskclock but i think sholes is using the 2.1 deskclock as well.
Either way it's funny that the service name is different.
Am attaching my version of the 2.1 music for you, can try installing that one and see if it fixes it for you.
Possible you might have to delete the Music.apk and the com.android.Musik in /data/apps
reboot then phone, then reinstall the new Music.apk, but i think it might work.
As always, do a backup first, just in case it doesn't.

I loaded that one and it's not from 2.1. It came up with the four big buttons instead of the tabs.
I was looking around with the hex editor a little too, but I have more to dig through. BTW I think you should be looking at the Dock.apk not the deskclock? Thanks

Ah well it depends on which ROM , mine has Deskclock instead of Dock, but if you have Dock then that's where you should look for sure.
My mistake on the music version though, it's the one i have, just lost track where it came from with all the rom's i switch around too.

NP. I appreciate the help. I'm wondering if there are two version floating around out there. I believe musik is a correct spelling in some countries.
Does the deskclock still have the issue with the temp displaying only in Celsius?
