About LinkBacksI have my phone rooted but havent done anything with it since then. Wondered what happens when the 2.1 comes across my phone? does it unroot my phone, will it not update to 2.1, or will it mess it up some how?

02-08-2010 06:28 PMMost likely you will lose root. You can do some searching here to read other opinions. This question is asked multiple times in every single 2.1 thread out there (which is a lot).

02-08-2010 06:52 PMIf you are running a custom rom then you recovery image will block OTA updates and you won't loose root. If all you did was root the phone you will probably loose root and be at the stock 2.1 state. SPrecovery image is required for custom ROMs and is what will block the OTA. If you don't eant to run a custom ROM but don't want to loose root, I would flash SPrecovery image to your phone.

02-08-2010 06:53 PMIf you have SPRecovery installed it will block OTA updates, at least that's my understanding on the subject. So, if you have BB, then you have SPRecovery, and therefore you'll need to wait for it to hit here, which will probably be pretty quick, at least a stock, rooted, version of the rom, then expect custom Roms shortly afterwards.
