I don't know about everyone else, but I've been using the Sholes 2.0.2 ROM. After installing the ROM using the updater I used SetCPU to over-clock to 800 and then to 1000, but neither felt even marginally faster than the stock 550.
The ONLY noticeable difference for me was that I was able to play a video file while over-clocked that would not play at the stock 550Mhz for some reason.
Maybe something is wrong with my phone, but I'm not getting all the OC hype.

I flashed the 1.3 ghz kernel and went into a boot loop. 1.1 ghz was stable for me, although Taz's new kernels don't seem to work well with the Sholes ROM that I am using.
I have been running at 1.0GHz (Set CPU set up to run 1Ghz ondemand and 550, otherwise) for weeks and it seems peppier and stable. Picture libraries, which used to seem to take forever to load up as thumbnails are now loading virtually instantaneously.
For the people who upped from 1.1 to 1.3Ghz: did you guys notice any difference. I am running stable on the AdamZ's smoked glass ROM at 1.1. Was planning to flash the 1.3Ghz to test tonite...
Put me down as one who is running 1.3 with no program or app issues. I am running one of Petes roms, 8.3 modified. Perhaps another day or two may be needed to confirm, but fine so far. Have tried all of my programs, but no heavy phone useage.
When I went up to 1.3 yesterday, I worked my way up. Previously I was running the old 1.0g. Did have some problems with slowness and lag at the new 1.0 and 1.1, compared to the old 1.0, but things are screaming rigt along on the new 1.3. I think there are some differences between the new ones and the old ones, I think.
And I am usb pdanet tethering right now, running at 64F degrees by the Temp ap set to cpu, not battery.
